Kyrie Irving commits to Duke

 

    Kyrie Irving ended weeks of speculation on Thursday and picked Duke University publicly as the school he will attend in the fall of 2010. The 6-1, 165 pound consensus top 10 player in the class of 2010 from Elizabeth, New Jersey picked Duke over finalists Texas A&M and Kentucky. He also listed Georgia Tech and Seton Hall in his final five.

    Irving burst on the seen early in 2009 after transferring to prestigious St. Patricks of New Jersey. His coach Kevin Boyle shocked everyone by saying that Kyrie would end up being the best guard ever after out of the state of New Jersey. After getting acclimated early in January he started living up to his billing as he played along North Carolina guard Derek Strickland. He furthered his reputation this summer with the New Jersey Road Runners and moved into the top ten on every scouting services list after stellar performances at the NBA Top 100 camp and the AAU Nationals in Orlando.

    Irving is expected to start right away at Duke in the fall and give them their best lead guard since the days of Jason Williams and Chris Duhon earlier in this decade.
