Peach Jam Recap Part 2

 

   Jabari Parker is as unflappable off the court while only after just finishing his sophomore the 6-8 1/2  222 pound star who sports a wing span of 6-11 handles an interview like a college senior. Parker who hails from Chicago, Illinois and is the son of former Texas A&M and Golden State star Sonny Parker. Parker averaged 17.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in his six games at the recently completed Peach Jam is widely acclaimed as one of the top 2 -3 players in all of high school basketball even though he is a rising junior in the 2013 class.

Peach Jam Recap Part 1

 

I was able to speak to six of the players Duke are recruiting or have a commitment from at Peach Jam.

Here is the first of a two part recap from Augusta.

 

Nerlens Noel:  Noel is a 6-11 plus and the 203 big man from the class of 2013 has a wing span of 7'3". The big man from Everett, Massachusetts averaged 7 blocked shots at Peach Jam and that average is low from what I viewed.

Mitch McGary and his parents talk recruiting

Mitch McGary:

The recruiting attention came a little fast. It’s been blown a little bit out of proportion, with all the big-time schools starting to talk to me. But I’ve been able to handle it, along with my parents and my coaches.

I had a big spring, playing really well, and people started to notice me. I feel kind of like a celebrity – it’s a lot of pressure for a kid to have cameras and microphones in his face. But I was always the big star in my hometown. A lot of people came up and talked to me. I got the feel of it, but now I’m not the big fish in the little pond any more. I’m just trying to go out there and play with everybody else, but it’s still a lot of pressure on everyone.

Duke,  Ohio State,Texas, Kansas are my top 5, then Georgia and
Georgia Tech. The first three have been the most aggressive in recruiting
me.

Memphis has a young coaching staff. They're coming on strong. They have
great players, a good big in Tyreke Black. They really run everything
through him. It's a great school for a big. Memphis has a basketball
atmosphere. They sell out the FedEx Forum a lot during the season. They sell
out every seat in an NBA arena, and they have the most home games in an NBA
arena. It's a great school, great atmosphere. The city loves basketball.
